Storytelling
Storytelling is a great way to interact with the youth you are in
charge of. It not only can help you get out of many a sticky situation,
but is important on a larger scale, too.
Stories can help young children:
- learn about themselves and the world they
live in
- learn about empathy and see things from
other's point of
view
- appreciate the time honored tradition of
storytelling
- learn about the traditions and values of
other cultures
- develop listening skills and an increased
attention span
- deepen and stimulate their natural
imaginative and creative
tendencies
- by encouraging them to read and increase
their exposure to
literature
- develop sequencing, recall and memory
skills
Storytelling not only helps you
out, but benefits the children you work
with.
A win – win situation for all
involved!
