In the heart of The Dreaming, there is a castle. Inside the castle, there is a library. A very special library. It contains all of the books that have ever been dreamed but never written. My name is Lucien, and I am the librarian. I have been the librarian for a very, very long time. As long as anyone, except maybe the King of Dreams himself, can remember.
The story of Dream, and of his siblings, The Endless, has been recorded in a series of comic books by British fellow by the name of Neil Gaiman. It is my understanding that they are adored by quite a few people. I have several of his stories in my own library's collection. Perhaps he will share them with you one day.
This guide is meant to provide an introduction to the books, the author, and the fans. I have included a special volume of tips for my fellow librarians in the waking world. In the last volume, you may find details about this guide. If you wish, you may skip directly to the recommended reading for Sandman fans. Should you become lost among the volumes, follow the raven back home.
