On each of these pages here, you, our intrepid viewer, will find a host of information on graphic novels. We have tried to angle the approach toward more "left field" aspects of the medium.....avoiding leather clad superheroes entirely seemed a bit far fetched, some sneak in here and there, but hopefully you will find something interesting, whether you are a lifelong fan of comics and graphic novels, a novice just looking for something new and exciting to read (with pictures, too!), or a librarian looking to expand your collection and/or develop some new programming ideas. Graphic novels range from humor for the tots, to more advanced reading for the teens; from sketches of daily life to full blown represenations of the form on film. There are deconstructions of the superhero, artists who most assuredly could be showing their work at some of the finest galleries in New York City, and a dip into the netherworlds of the graphic novel culture, a realm of outsiders and unknowns. This is truly a medium that is often marginalized in the world of literature, and hopefully this site will go a long way in debunking that myth, providing a new insight into the joy that can be achieved as a reader, as a librarian, as a parent, or, as a goofy looking librarian superhero in spandex pants. Enjoy. ****feel free to email questions, comments or further concerns to the webmasters: Kit Moore, Meghan Stillwell, Krista Hutley, or Kris Lustock**** |
