Want to combine books with movies? An excellent way to connect
movies with books is offered for FREE through The Film Foundation in
partnership with Turner Classic Movies and IBM. The partnership is
known as The Story of Movies.
The Story of Movies is an interdisciplinary curriculum introducing
students to classic cinema and the cultural, historical and artistic
significance of film. The foundation provides you with a copy of the
movie as well as a DVD that shows how the movie was made and the social
and political climate when the movie was made, as well as the setting
of the movie. The package also provides you with reproducibles that you
can use for workshops with the students and a teacher manual.
Currently, only To Kill a
Mockingbird is available, but next year Mr. Smith goes to Washington and The Day the Earth Stood Still.
Imagine the night at the movies you could have if you have these
classics available?
