A selection policy is a written statement that explains how you choose which books should be in the library and what should happen if a book is challenged. Ideally this should be read and signed by the principal, if in a school, or the director of the library, if in a public library. For information on how to write a selection policy and the specifics of what should be included, see the guide on ALA's Office of Intellectual Freedom webpage.
